September 2021

Welcome to Pioneer class based at the Lantern site.

In our brand new facilities, our class have settled in quickly and already making use of the purpose built sensory room here on site.

Pioneer class is a mixture of Post-16 aged young men from Year 12 to 14!

Already the students have experienced their first weeks of enterprise, going out into the community, swimming and kayaking!

We are looking forward to a great year in sixth form!

 December 2021

This Autumn term has been an amazing time which has seen all of our Post 16 young adults transition and settle into our purpose built facilities at The Lantern and benefit from the new outdoor gym and multi use games areas.

The building work has just been completed and the post 16 courtyard garden is now finished and students have their own entrance to The Lantern building.

Pioneer have enjoyed taking daily exercise and have used these active sessions to regularly recall and practise road safety across different community sites.

Pioneer have been out and about in the community, exploring lots of different activities & venues where students can learn and apply practical skills and complete their learning, always with a future focus.

Students have undertaken personal challenges such as following obstacle courses blindfolded to build trust in their friends and developed team approaches to researching different products in local garden and shopping centres.

The emphasis has been on working together and forging new relationships with friends and staff alike.

It's been a great first term and we're looking forward to the 2022!

January 2022

Welcome back everyone. We do hope that you had a lovely New Year.

In Pioneer, we are very quickly back into the swing of things and are enjoying being back! This half term is a busy one;  with our new stairs in action now we are undertaking a project to decorate our lovely little sixth form outside area.  We have some benches and some areas for designing our little garden with some bedding plants, herbs and vegetables. We are also using some specialist tools in our woodwork room and creating some graffiti style art to decorate the walls outside and make it our own.

We are also making some cool nail art hearts and picture frames ready for Valentine's Day which is looking really good - so watch this space!

Dance Live takes place on Thursday 10th February at the Guildhall and some of our students are helping to make props for the big performance whilst the rest of Post 16 and Key stage 4 are busy rehearsing. It promises to be a lovely event and we are very excited about the performance.

Along with our projects, we are still getting out into the community - going to the Fort to complete different activities every Thursday morning and visiting local places such as 100 Acre Wood to ensure we get some fresh air and get lots of exercise.
