Today’s assembly was based on ‘House Plant Appreciation Day’ which was this week on Monday 10th January.

Pupils and staff thought about how house plants help to brighten up our homes / school and are good for our well-being as they make us feel happy and are great gifts to give to people.

We played ‘House Plant Bingo’ which was lots of fun, and very competitive!! Pupils then enjoyed potting their very own class Spider Plant and gave them all names. Some of the names given to the Spider Plants included - Marvin, Spider Pig and Sid. Classes will now look after their own Spider Plants and enjoy watching them grow.

To end assembly pupils and staff have been tasked with researching ideas for a new plant for us to have in our Reception area at Mary Rose Academy. Once all classes have nominated a plant our pupil voice councils - Squeak (Primary) and SHOUT (Secondary / Post 16) will vote for a winner.
