Welcome to Daring Class.
We have thoroughly enjoyed being back together in our new classroom and greeting new and old friends with lots of happy smiles.
The pupils in Daring class are a very creative bunch and have enjoyed exploring and using a variety of collage materials and paint.
Pupils are showing themselves to be very imaginative and have a range of skills that are as individual as they are!
Daring class have been working hard this term.
Our most recent project was filming ‘A Christmas Carol’ for our Christmas show; we really got into character, wore costumes and used props. We gave a fantastic performance to spread the Christmas cheer.
For our topic ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ we explored different art styles and had a go at making Pop Art, photo frames and spice wheels.
We have also been practicing our communication skills; a special mention to Zuzanna, who has been using the ‘walk’ symbol to request going for a walk. Well done!
We are honing our skills in the kitchen and for food studies have made pitta pizzas, iced biscuits and mince pies. Handling different foods can be tricky for some of us, so our teachers are very proud of all of us!
Daring class have had a fantastic start to the term. Our new topic is ‘Art Attack!’ and we’ve already done lots of creative things.
To introduce the topic, we did paint pouring, bubble blowing art and coffee filter tie-dye. We read the story ‘The Dot’ and are practising our reading and comprehension skills.
In Food studies, we made toast; James and Joshua wowed us, by tasting some of theirs. Mollie, Kruz and James have been practising their addition and subtraction skills with larger numbers and are becoming more independent in using the sensory 100-square to help with their calculations. Zuzanna has been exploring new spaces around school and making friends with new people, including relaxing with some of the students up in sixth form. Martim is now making his own juice drink in class and is learning important independence skills.
Throughout the topic we will be exploring different artists and making our own art to mimic their styles. We will put all of our wonderful work in the hall for the art gallery exhibition we will be doing at the end of our topic. For this event, we will be using the money skills we have learned to sell tickets; we will use the skills we have developed in Food Studies to serve sandwiches and drinks.
